Hello, Summer Concerts: Grouplove + Vampire Weekend

It's an undeniable fact that summer is the high schoolers dream. What more could a 17 year old want with her life? Binge watching Netflix, eating frozen yogurt any & all times possible, and finally being able to wear a favorite crop top and short shorts without too much opposition (although I will say, rocking a belly shirt in a southern, sorority-preppy, suburban town DOES get me just a few judgmental stares).

Basically, summer is my excuse for slacking on blogging. I've been busy, you know? Leaving copious episodes of "Lie To Me" unwatched seems....cruel.
***Side note, I'm now accepting new Netflix series to consider. Please. Help me. I just keep rewatching old Doctor Who's ("Doomsday" is always too soon).

Besides all of my Netflix-ing, I actually have been doing some things. I wanted, mostly, to share with you guys some updates from two concerts I was lucky enough to go to!

Love Your Self(ie)

When I can't coerce my younger sister into taking my pictures for me, I am stuck with two equally grueling options:
A) Don't take pictures. This option, however, is not very desirableespecially when I'm channeling my inner Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake and wearing a denim-on-denim outfit. Honestly, it requires pictures.
B) Take a trilion selfies. On my iPhone.

Please, oh great Selfie Gods, bless these pictures. Especially the one in the bathroom. *sigh*

Portfolio

For one of my classes (the name is complicated, but essentially it's a self-study fashion class), I had to make a portfolio and include in it two of the garments I made over the semester! So, I thought I'd share the pictures here too. :)
The dress is a basic shift dress I based off a pattern found in a book I bought from JoAnn's... "Simple Dress Book" was the title, I believe. It has a bunch of cute pictures and, well, simple dresses inside of it. So useful.
I drew the pattern for the shorts myself, which could explain why it doesn't fit too well. Whoops. They were the first garment I've ever completely constructed on my own so I'm still pretty proud.

Feel free to admire the gorgeous grill in the background. Really makes the pics, I'm not sure what I'd do without it there. </3 </3

SO. The shorts... (and the foot tan.)

Not in Honolulu

AP exams are over, thank goodness.
I had some free time, so I was able to actually take pictures today! I was at the park I usually run at, and people thought my friend and I were crazy. Taking pictures?! Of each other?! What kind of madness is that?

My outfit is super casual, it was awesome to run around in and enjoy the warm weather.
And I chopped all my hair off. Asymmetrical bobs, YEAH.

Weeping Wednesdays

The weather today was insane.
Most of the day it wasn't really all that rainy, but all these tornados and bad thunderstorms were supposed to hit, which freaked everyone out. When I woke up, I concluded that today was a perfect day to match my outfit with the dismal weather predictions.

All black outfits are my favorite. It's hard to see details (because...black) but I've got on a basic top tucked into a black skirt, plus a black cardigan around my waist to tie the outfit together. Pun intended.

Anyways. I didn't want to scare my classmates too much, so I paired the look with my sister's white sneakers and some white nail polish.
